Over 400 Unsafe Products Confiscated by Trading Standards

Hundreds of potentially dangerous goods have been confiscated by the Hampshire County Council Trading Standards.
The items were obtained by the council Trading Standards officers at special inspection points along the M27.
Officers seized the goods yesterday including; ultra violet nail lamps toys wax heaters nail dryers garden machinery gas powered scooters and electrical chargers.
Of the items confiscated there were some counterfeit goods including; Angry Birds toys and 8000 fake Rubik’s cubes – these were intended to be given out at Santa’s grotto.
The electrical goods seized didn’t have the correct protection against electric shocks the plugs were counterfeit and lots of products had no instructions on how to use them or where to go for help.
Trading Standards took the garden machinery which they said was dangerous.
Some of these machines had pipes which were too short and couldn’t be safely connected. When tested one of the brake leavers broke on the first use.
