Burberry Will Stop Using Toxic Chemicals in Children’s Clothing

Burberry are cracking down on the use of toxic chemicals in the clothes manufacturing process after residue was found in some of the children’s products.
In early January Greenpeace released research which showed that toxic residue had been discovered in some children’s clothes.
Burberry decided to not use the chemicals in the manufacturing process after the Greenpeace research was published.
Most of the chemicals that the Greenpeace found to be toxic are now widespread in the environment after years of discharges into global waterways from clothing factories.
Ilze Smit Detox campaigner at Greenpeace told the Daily Mail: ‘Burberry’s Detox commitment to rid us of these hazardous little monsters represent a new chapter in the story of toxic-free fashion.
‘In taking this landmark step Burberry has listened to their customers’ demands and joins the ranks of brands acting on behalf of parents everywhere to give this toxic nightmare the happy ending it deserves.’
There is currently no evidence that the level of chemicals discovered would cause children wearing them any harm but Greenpeace argue that they should be removed on a precautionary basis.
