Following a car accident you may have sustained a whiplash injury or possible a more serious and life threatening injury. You are entitled to claim compensation in this event if the accident was not your fault and if the incident has taken place within the last three years.

Mr C made a personal injury claim with the help of Michael Lewin Solicitors and we were incredibly pleased that we were able to positively resolve his claim. Nearly £2000.00 in compensation was awarded to Mr C after he was injured as the passenger in a third party’s vehicle. The vehicle that Mr C was travelling was hit in the rear by the car behind. Luckily Mr C chose Michael Lewin Solicitors as his legal representatives and got a fantastic result from his case.

If you have been in a car accident you may have developed a whiplash injury. The list below will help you to identify whether or not you are suffering from whiplash.

A whiplash injury or neck sprain as it is called occurs when a sudden jolt to the head forwards backwards or to the side causes the soft tissues in the neck to be stretched beyond their normal capacity and to sustain an injury. The following are all symptoms of whiplash and if you have experienced any of these following an accident you should seek medical treatment immediately:

? Having difficulty turning your head from side to side or bending your neck.

? Pain and stiffness in your neck; this symptom may not develop for a number of hours following the accident and may not become apparent until the next day. In at least 50% of accidents the injuries do not become apparent until up to 24 hours after the accident.

? Pain in the upper arms and shoulders is also a common symptom of a whiplash injury.

? Some people may notice back pain either in the upper or lower part of the back; not all whiplash injuries are sustained exclusively in the neck. Additional injury can spread out around the body depending on the nature of the accident.

? If you have any pre-existing medical conditions these could have become exacerbated by the accident; you can still make a claim for compensation if this is the case.

? Some car accident victims who are suffering from a whiplash injury may experience a headache and blurred vision.

? Occasionally pain in the jaw and difficulty swallowing is also apparent.
