Food Poisoning Sufferers are Paid out £5million in Compensation

Nearly 1000 holiday makers who were struck down with food poisoning have been paid out £5.5 million compensation for the illness that they had at the Bahia Principe resort in Dominican Republic in 2007.

The settlements come after travel agents Thomas Cook Thomson and My Travel had reached agreements concerning hundreds of claims for severe gastric illnesses.

400 tourists including 60 children who stayed at the hotel raised a claim with tour operators First Choice and they agreed to pay a settlement of £1.9 million.
