Road Rage Parent Drives into Teacher
Road Rage Parent Jailed for Ploughing into Teacher
Following our recent article regarding the use of motor vehicles as weapons, CCTV footage has this week been released of a road rage parent who deliberately drove his car into collision with a teacher in a school car park in Surrey, whilst on the way to pick up his child.
The footage clearly shows the teacher standing at the school’s gates speaking to the parent, who was the driver of the Volkswagen. The Volkswagen then suddenly accelerates forwards into the car park at speed, causing the teacher to be thrown onto the bonnet of the vehicle and eventually to the ground. The vehicle narrowly avoided hitting two schoolchildren on bicycles. You can watch the full road rage video here.
The offending parent was sentenced on Friday to 10 months in prison, after pleading guilty to causing actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving without an MOT.
The investigating officer from the Roads Policing Unit recognised the frustration car parking situations can cause, but warned that people involved in these kinds of incidents may also face prison sentences.
Congestion and stress are common causes of road rage, with most incidents occurring in the busier towns and cities. If the driver’s road rage results in their vehicle being driven with such a blatant disregard for the safety of others, in particular in a car parks or areas used by pedestrians, the consequences could be devastating or even fatal.
