Don’t Like Mondays? You’re Not Alone

Monday is the least productive day for most of the country results from a survey show.
57 per cent of people feel stressed and anxious about work during the weekend and 48 per cent of people come to work in the wrong frame of mind. As well as stress workers also have to cope with tiredness 36 per cent of workers feel tired at the beginning of the week.
Over half of the people who participated in the survey by Westin Hotels and Resorts felt that their health was suffering due to a lack of sleep exercise and relaxation.
Nearly 6000 adults were part of the survey which showed that people needed to concentrate on relaxing and switching off from work over the weekend.
Richard Coulthard head of our stress at work department said people need to know how to separate elements of their life
"People suffering with stress in the workplace have a tendency to continue dwelling on work issues outside the work environment. This can become a vicious circle because dwelling on these issues tends to exacerbate peoples symptoms of stress.
"It is important that people try and separate their work lives from their home lives in order to assist in relieving the pressures caused by work. The reality of this can be difficult as work plays such a significant role in our lives.
"The importance of managing stress in the workplace can not be understated because failure to do so can result in long term illness which is not beneficial for either the individual concerned or the employer."
