?They promised me it was a safe working environment? said Miss Enright a lap dancer who contacted Michael Lewin Solicitors regarding stress in the workplace and making a claim in London
Miss Enright became a lap dancer because it was a well paid job with flexible working hours which she needed as she had a small son to look after.
Most of her colleagues were in the business for the same reason. Some worked part time and were studying or earning a second income. They had all been promised their welfare was of upmost importance. This was untrue.
?In order to make money I had to act dim-witted and dodge the gropes pinches and slaps even though officially there was no touching allowed. The management’s reaction was to be smart and stay out of their way. I realised that if I wanted paying I had to just get on with it? said Miss Enright.
When a friend of hers was attacked after work by an obsessive customer Miss Enright made the decision that she would rather manage without the money than put herself at risk. However her manager was angry at losing one of his most popular dancers and made personal threats to her. ?The stress in the workplace became too much to bear and I felt as if I was in danger; I contacted the police and took legal advice on how to make a claim in London.?
