‘Toxic’ Dolls Being Sold in Hartlepool
Fruit head dolls which were banned from the whole of Europe two years ago because they contained a chemical that has been associated with causing cancer deformity in unborn babies and infertility in men were discovered for sale at Hartlepool’s indoor market.
The dolls have been confiscated and Trading Standards has issued a warning. The dolls are thought to be made in China and contain the chemical phthalates which is thought to cause cancer deformity in unborn babies and fertility in men.
As well as the fruit head dolls the other dolls that they were selling laughing dolls which included the crawling dolls with a polka dress baby doll with a picture of an animal’s head on the dress.
The dolls were discovered on sale in the Hartlepool market and the trader has since handed the dolls over.
