UK Companies Unable to Deal with Work Place Stress

Companies in the UK are not succeeding as much as the rest of Europe in successfully dealing with stress in the workplace based on research by Viego.
45% of UK companies said that they had put measures in place to prevent stress at work. Making them score just behind France The Netherlands Germany Italy and Spain.
Out of the 45% 41% of those were using advanced measures.
Vigeo analyst Laetitia Charrier told Workplace Savings and Benefits that she thinks that companies in the UK could improve their stress prevention approach.
“In terms of health and safety policies UK companies are very much advanced compared to other companies with 96% reporting a health and safety policy.
“However only 25% of UK companies that reported a health and safety policy implemented stress prevention measures.”
The UK also scored low of level of transparency about absenteeism with just 18% of companies reporting.
Richard Coulthard the head of our stress at work department said.
“From our own experience the lack of legislation in the UK which deals specifically with stress prevention is a major problem.
“Indeed despite stress at work being the second most common cause of absence from work in the UK it remains an issue which is largely overlooked by many UK companies.”
